Solar Pipework Fibre Washers

Solar pipework fibre washers are used between mechanical pipework joints to help prevent leaks in solar thermal systems.

The fibre washer is fitted between stainless-steel solar pipework and flat-faced, high-temperature brass fittings, creating a secure seal at the connection. Using the correct washer is particularly important in pressurised solar thermal systems where the pipework is exposed to elevated temperatures and glycol fluid.

These fibre washers are suitable for use when installing, servicing or repairing solar thermal pipework connections.

When dismantling a solar thermal pipework connection, the fibre washer should be checked and replaced if necessary rather than reusing a damaged or compressed washer. This helps maintain a reliable seal and reduce the risk of solar fluid leaks.

They are particularly useful when servicing flexible stainless-steel solar tube connections, including DN12 and DN16 pipework.
